Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music for a love rather than a profession. This led to her began writing songs of her own. Alongside Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. After her mother said that the songs she wrote might not gain fame for her rather to help people to realize the importance of their work and influence to our world at large, she began performing them publicly. When she began playing the piano, she was six years old and began writing music when she was nine. Her family didn't know until the age of 14. Aurora's accomplishments were never her dream. The only thing she loves is writing songs. She claims that music is her favorite way of feeling anything.
